Resume Tip #2 - Attachments

When applying for a job online you'll be asked to fill out some information electronically and to attach your resume as well as other documents you'll like to share with the employer like cover letters, recommendations, and even certifications.

One of the things that I encounter with at LEAST once a week is when applicants fail to actually attach their resume. I'll try to open the document and it'll be either a blank document, their cover letter, or even something completely irrelevant. I've even had someone attach a document that didn't have the company name correct AND it wasn't even the applicants name. I assumed that the applicant attached maybe another persons cover letter that was saved on the computer. Regardless of how that happened at the end of the day it looks bad on YOU.

Majority of the time employers will not try to contact or reach out to you for your attachment. I understand that it's frustrating that something so minor can potentially jeopardize your chances of moving to the next step, but if you think about it we go through hundreds of resumes and to be frank we just don't have time to reach out to you.

Plus, something as simple as forgetting to attach your resume can lead the employers to think about your work performance. Attaching a document is such a simple task, yet it is one of the most important steps. This may lead the recruiter or whoever is reviewing the resume to question your attention to details, ability to multitask, and etc. Would you forget to attach an important report that needs to be sent out? Would you forget to change minor details on an email or letter? Recruiters will reflect on your application on your job performance and to make any excuses to pass on you.

Trust me, it's a lot easier to pass on a candidate than to reach out to them.

I hope that this was helpful to you and make you triple check your application and information before submitting it!

Resume Tip #1 - Spelling Errors

I decided that I would try to give some advice on resume tips and anything that I can think of because as a Recruiter I go through hundreds of resumes and one of my personal pet peeves are spelling errors. If you have 1-2 errors fine, I'll give you that. I get it we're only human, but if you have a page full of errors it is definitely something that will start to reflect on you. Often time when I start to see a lot of spelling errors I tend to just pass on the candidate.

Another thing is typically employers will send you an application to fill out to bring to the interview or they will have you complete it on site. Be sure that your spelling errors are kept to a minimum as well. I understand that you're nervous you're trying to fill it out as quickly as possible but always be sure that you write neatly and with almost no errors.

Lesson to be learned? Always check your spelling.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Make Up Remover Cleanser Review

Hey everyone! I've finally finished using the Aveeno Positively Radiant Make Up Remover Cleanser not too long ago and would like to do a quick review on it :) Product Claims: "Gently dissolves makeup and impurities to leave your skin clean and refreshed without over-drying. This foaming cleanser, with moisture-rich Soy extract, leaves your skin soft, smooth and radiant. Oil-free, soap-free and noncomedogenic, this cleanser is gentle enough for everyday use, even on sensitive skin." Taken from website. Price: Approximately $7.49 Pros: Takes off makeup, extremely affordable. Cons: Drying. Depending on my skin this product can dry out my skin a bit, nothing major though. Doesn't always take off my eyeliner. Overall review: I like this product, it has lasted me for quite some time probably around 4-5 months. Possibly even more since I didn't use the product everyday. Repurchase: Yes & No. I would probably repurchase if I don't find anything else. However, I wouldn't repurchase because it wasn't a product that I absolutely love. I hope that this review was helpful! :)
